How the totals are counted
The game never uses your last copy of a material. A recipe that asks for 4 of a piece uses up 3 and leaves 1 in your wardrobe, so crafting two of that item takes 7 of the piece, not 8. Evolution follows the same rule. A recolour only needs you to own the base piece and pay the dye, and Reconstruction uses the full number it shows. The planner counts all of this, so its numbers are the copies you must own, not the numbers printed on each recipe added together.
A material that the Clothes Store sells for Gold, or that a Journey stage drops, is listed as a piece to collect even when it has a recipe of its own. Everything else with a recipe is made.

Gold is charged by the hearts of the item you are making. Recolours cost dye and Material instead of Gold.
