Front-liners need to survive, and nothing in its kit helps with that; the SSR cut before Season 2 thinned it further. Magmolin holds the slot and starts the burn.
Overview
The first Fire UR you build replaces Vulcanid, a stopgap from the opening chapters. Trial By Fire hits one enemy for 600%, a respectable number for an SSR, but it belongs to a Palmon listed as a front-liner with nothing in its kit to keep itself alive, so on the front it tends to fall first. The SSRs were weakened before Season 2, and it never evolves to make up the gap.
Magmolin takes the Fire front instead, since its Rage skill starts the burn the whole element runs on and its passive pays out in camp. Vulcanid's own camp value is Hot Diggity Dog, 30% more Steel on a Smelting job, so move it to the furnace once Magmolin arrives and leave it there.
