Poison Mushroom fires one poison opener and then goes quiet. Poison Spray applies 24 Poison when the fight starts, and three of its stars add a few more each. On a Venom run before any better poison source exists, that is a useful head start on the stack, and unlike an egg pet it takes no backpack space.
It never applies Poison again, though, and a poison build lives on stacks that keep coming. Venomous Spider's egg sacks add Poison all fight, and the Goblin enemies, which resist Poison or ignore it outright, make the Mushroom useless against them. It costs 3 energy with no cost cut, and a Rare pet lowers your combat stats in a lineup with Legendary ones. Owning it adds 4% Total HP to every hero, and that is about all it is worth.
