Overview

Venom builds everything around Poison. Poison Coating enhances 2 random backpack slots when the run starts, and whatever sits in them inflicts 50% more Poison, so the job is to get Poison Crossbow and Spider Fang into those slots. Gloves of Plague fits her well, since its on-hit trigger repeats the enemy's most common debuff, which in her backpack is Poison.

The randomness is the weakness. Those 2 slots are chosen for you, and a layout that can't reach them wastes the bonus. Poison also stalls on heavy Block, where Rose's Impale sends Poison straight through. Venom remains the pick for poison-only stages and has cleared deep chapters with Mimic, Geezer and Red Dragon, but she isn't a first investment.
